And So It Begins

We are now halfway through week four and in the last three and a half weeks we have done a lot.
We are starting to feel settled into our home, the house is coming together, we are still awaiting several pieces of furniture and some of the things we ordered are not scheduled to arrive until late December so we know it will be a while yet before we can completely be unpacked but that’s ok as we are so grateful every single day for the blessing of just getting to be here. We literally get up every morning and thank God for all we have.

We are now about seventy five percent unpacked, made a mad dash trip to Seattle for four days to celebrate important birthdays, and came back home with one day to unpack from our travels, and continue with our moving in with more unpacking and cleaning and then one day later we received our first visitors.

Our friends who flew from Seattle to North Carolina and made a road trip down the coast to their final leg here in Florida came and stayed with us for a couple of days. With limited time to do much sightseeing we took them over to the Daytona speedway to do the tour, which by the way if you get an opportunity to do I would highly recommend it. They took us out on the track, pits, grandstands etc…and theres a really nice museum sharing the history of racing.

It was a fun afternoon followed by an early dinner at the beach at one of our favorite places to eat. Then we drove up the coast to Ormond beach to drive through the Ormond scenic loop. It is a beautiful drive with moss covered trees draping a canopy over the road to make you feel as if your driving through a painting with waterways and vistas of rivers, creeks and marshes. It is an absolutely beautiful drive and one I highly recommend if visiting this area.

Our friends only stayed a couple of days but we enjoyed our first visitors and we look forward to many more visits from friends and family in the future.
When we announced we were moving to Florida so many people we know began planning their visits and we are so excited to share in our happy place. We are looking forward to getting to spend time with those we love.
And so it begins as people are starting to schedule their visits we jokingly tell them all to book the room early as we may be full. We have friends that have lived here for years and said it can at times become a revolving door of company. It sounds as though we may have to put out a “sorry no vacancy”sign up.

I am only joking of course. in truth, as long as we have room our doors are always open to our family and friends.

Next week we will pull out the Christmas decorations and start preparing for the holidays. I feel very disorganized as I’m usually finished with all of my Christmas shopping by mid to late November and with this move I haven’t even really began my shopping yet so maybe putting up the decorations will get me motivated. We’ve been going nonstop for weeks and are ready to take a breather. Maybe we can plan on that in January, I’ll put that on our calendar, but until then….we keep on going!
