Florida Life

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind. We have been working hard to get the house set up, Gene’s workspace in the garage finished, and projects complete so we can really start enjoying the life we came here to live.

We have started getting out a little, we went to the Food Truck Festival in historic downtown Daytona, we also attended the arts festival in Ormond beach. We ate lunch at a fun place called club 31 and look forward to going back there for dinner some tome soon we hope. We enjoyed an evening out with friends at Caribbean Jacks, one of our favorite dining spots, we celebrated Gene’s birthday at the Top of Daytona, we got a full day in at the beach on a beautiful 83 degree day, we went to the beach one morning to watch the sunrise and had a lovely champagne breakfast at the Shores Resort and Spa and then we flew back to Washington to see the kids and grandkids and to get our AC repaired on the car we keep there. It had to be fixed before our next trip here. So we are finally beginning to get out and enjoy the sights and sounds and tastes of this area.

So next step is to get some golf lessons, pickle-ball classes, dance lessons and purchase the boogie boards. We are planning a trip down to the Keys soon and recently made another day trip up to Saint Augustine. I really like Saint Augustine and will be going again soon.

We had company come last Thursday and we played tour guide, it was a lot of fun, they attended the Daytona 500, we stopped by European village and we went to a pirate dinner show in Orlando, now that was a good time. I really wish our grandkids were closer, they would enjoy so much of what we are doing. Now back to reality and getting a few more warranty repairs done at the house. I sure wish we could get all of that warranty work finished so we could get these people out of our house once and for all. It’s been a revolving door of workers coming and going and a lot of frustration. I’m over it and ready to be finished, we are now over the four month mark, too long in my humble opinion.

We recently completed our classes at the church and are now official members or as they call it partners of the church. This church is someplace we can really see a future in so our next step there is to get involved and find places within the church we can volunteer. I don’t think it will be too difficult to get plugged in.

Life is busy, most of it good so no complaints here. We are really enjoying our near perfect weather and planning another beach day Sunday. we’ve been spending time with friends and are so full of gratitude.
Well, we are off to seeing what another week will bring.
