I Love Manitee

As Gene headed out for his Friday golf game with the guys, my friend and I decided to take the day and head to Blue Springs state park where Manatee come into the springs for winter to stay in the warm water. Blue Springs is a wonderful preserve and sanctuary for these beautiful creatures. These gentle giants slowly glide through the water with grace and beauty. It’s a wonderful sight. I have visited this park several times over the years during my many visits but this was my friends first time to ever to see a manatee so a special treat for her.

If you’re ever visiting Orlando area this is a must see during the winter months. It’s located approximately forty minutes north of Orlando off of I-4. Definitely worth the drive. Then after our time observing the manatee we made the drive out to Ponce Inlet for lunch and ate at another one of my many favorite places to eat here Called “Down The Hatch”. Great food and atmosphere sitting out on the dock on the waters of the Halifax river. This is also a place we have frequented on our many visits here, we were introduced to both of these places by our good friends who have lived here in the area for over twenty one years. It’s nice to have friends in the area. We really do enjoy spending time with our friends.

We’ve had another busy week, we visited a nursery and bought some new trees and plants to be put in the front and side yard. They should be delivering and planting those in the next couple of weeks. I’m looking forward to having some color in our yard. Right now we have nothing that flowers so the color we are adding is just the beginning of the new things we will do in our landscape.

We had some stormy weather this last weekend and it produced a couple of tornados on the other side of the state. Luckily several hours from us so we weren’t affected. Prayers for all of those that were. Tornados aren’t new to me as I used to live in Tennessee, however they still scare me and I have great respect for the severe weather that can come here.

Well, three months ago today we arrived here in beautiful sunny Florida and after forty years of marriage, I can honestly say I think we have found our forever home. We simply love it here.
