Deck Those Halls

It is Thanksgiving eve and we are starting our preparations for the holidays.
It’s difficult after making such a big move to get enthused but Christmas is one of the two most important holidays to me and I want to celebrate the birth of our Savior.
Yes there is the worldly side of gifts for the children and baking and lights but to me it is one big giant party of the most important birthday we can celebrate.
So we are decking those halls, donning the lights, wrapping the gifts and celebrating the joy of the season. So on the eve before Thanksgiving, we kick it off by hanging lights.

So here we are the night before Thanksgiving, living out a whole new experience. We have always had large family dinners, loud and festive but this year we are away from family, our children will be doing their own Thanksgiving dinners, we all won’t be together, and we will be here alone. So our plan originally was to go to Cracker Barrel and enjoy having someone cook for me and be waited on but then our lifelong friends of forty two years invited us to celebrate with their family so we graciously accepted and will be celebrating Thanksgiving with them. Like I’ve said many times, we are so blessed with such amazing people in our lives.

So to kick off Thanksgiving right what would it be to not have some crazy wild turkeys running down the middle of our street. Yep, that is exactly what happened yesterday. We walked out our front door and turkey’s were running everywhere. That was a first for us. Getting us in the spirit of the holiday. I guess they know what day it is tomorrow, I think if I was a turkey I’d run too.

I know there are so many who serve in the military who cant be home with their families, those who have loved ones who were lost this year, those who don’t have a home or a meal, there are those around the world who are suffering. For all of these I am saying prayers for you today.

In that we will look at all that we have to be thankful for and continue to live our lives full of gratitude, trying to give back, to share the love of Jesus, after all he is the reason for this wonderful season. So if you have the ability, get out there, deck those halls, sing the Christmas carols, hang the lights, bake the cookies, eat the turkey and bask in and enjoy every part of the season. Find a way to give something back and remember to stop for a moment and give thanks. We all have something to be grateful for.

Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🍁
