Wyoming

Wyoming is definitely in my top favorite states to visit. Like Alaska it is extremely diverse, nature abounds, the landscape will take your breath away. I just can’t get enough every time I visit. There are so many beautiful places here in America to visit and I would put Wyoming at the top of that list.

With its rugged terrain, mountains, prairies, lakes, rivers, and forests Wyoming has it all. It is an endless landscape of beauty and a step back in time. It has its modern cities; however, you really do get the feeling of being out in the old west. Every time I visit Wyoming, I feel like I have stepped back in time and can almost hear the whispers of a bygone era. How difficult life must have been for the native people of the land who had been there for thousands of years, and for those first settlers who came behind them, the winters are hard in Wyoming and food gets scarce, and Summers can be very hot depending on where you are. When you come to Wyoming you will feel the past as you travel through each area you will sense those who traveled before you.

My sister lived in Wyoming, first in Rawlins and then later in Thermopolis, so I have been fortunate to have visited the state several times, not to mention that I absolutely love Yellowstone National Park, so we took family vacations to Yellowstone quite often.

The landscape is vast and wide open, and you can literally travel and get away from people and not see anyone for days if that is what you choose to do. Besides Alaska there aren’t too many places left where you can do that.

Wyoming is definitely a hunters playground, camping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, and every outdoor sport or activity you could think of is at your fingertips.

If in Cody, you could attend the Cody Stampede or visit the Buffalo Bill Center of the West https://centerofthewest.org/. While in Thermopolis you could visit the Wyoming dinosaur Center https://wyomingdinosaurcenter.org/ or visit the Safari club, or take a dip in the hot springs, in

Jackson Hole you can’t miss the Grand Teton National Park, or the national elk refuge https://www.fws.gov/refuge/national-elk/visit-us. If you happen to come during ski season, then try the slopes at Snow king Mountain. Yellowstone is a must see for every visitor that comes to Wyoming, you should take several days to see the whole park. you will experience volcanic thermal pots, wildlife in abundance including grizzly or black bear, elk, wolverines, bison, wolves, eagles, deer, trumpeter swans, wild horses, moose, bighorn sheep and owls. When visiting always remember these are wild animals and every year someone gets injured as they try to approach these creatures for that photo op. So, when visiting respect nature and enjoy, but not too close. For Information on visiting Yellowstone National Park Click here: https://www.nps.gov/yell/index.htm

Casper, Laramie, Sheridan, Cheyenne. Each one offers a multitude of things to do. Museums, hiking, skiing, outdoor adventures, rodeos, rock climbing. Like all of Wyoming each area offers its own unique opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts.

You can also experience a traditional Native America Powwow celebrating Native American culture through dance, music and community gatherings featuring various dance styles and competitions, these are held throughout the Summer across the state. So, start planning and pack your bags, because I think Wyoming is a wonderful place to plan your next vacation.
