On Thursday April fourteenth we flew from Orlando to Seattle to come spend time with our family for Easter and then to also start our twenty seven day road trip to visit friends and several National Parks.
As we left eighty three degrees from Florida we landed in Seattle met by rain and snow mixed and a chilly thirty eight degrees. Brrrr that is too cold for me. Unfortunately it didn’t get much better the next day as we had more rain/snow showers mix and temperatures stayed cool. The big shocker was the hail storm we were met with on Saturday, it looked like it was snowing and leaving an accumulation but in actuality it was all hail.
Then the weather made a miraculous change on Easter Sunday, the sky cleared out, the temperatures climbed and we ended up having a beautiful day with our family. The kids did a little Easter egg hunt and we had a wonderful dinner and just really enjoyed our time together.
On Monday we headed over to Lake Chelan to stop and visit friends for a few days, we have really enjoyed our time with them. Gene and Mike played golf on Tuesday as Patti and I strolled the downtown shops and visited the Chelan Winery where we enjoyed four tastings as well as a sampling of meats, cheeses, dried fruits and nuts.
This is a highly desirable area for tourism in the Summer months known for its many wineries, beautiful lake and near by Leavenworth. We visited a couple of lovely wineries today, Fielding Hills and Tsillan aka (Chelan) Cellars meaning deep water. Every time we come we try and visit a different winery.
It’s a little cool this time of year, Winters are snowy and cold and Summers are hot and dry and they don’t get the rain that the western side of the state gets. Come Summer this place will be hopping.

We enjoyed a really tasty dinner at Wapato Cellars, our friends highly recommended the Chicken Picatta so we took their advise and no regrets. it had a light lemon sauce with capers and was absolutely delicious.
This morning we went to blueberry Hills in Manson for breakfast. it’s nothing fancy but the food is good and you can purchase all kinds of homemade jams and jellies and other items.
This area is lovely and we always enjoy coming for a visit but Summers are definitely the time of year to come.
Tomorrow we leave for Lewiston Idaho. We will spend one night with friends there and then head down to Boise to visit Genes sisters.
We are looking forward to the adventures ahead. Praying for good weather as we begin our National Parks road trip making stops in Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, California, Oregon and then back to Washington. Time to add to the stamps in my National Park Stamp Book.
