With all that had been going on in our lives and the unexpected loss of our niece, we made the trip to Seattle to be with family, while there we decided to bring four of our older grandchildren back to Florida with us.
After a month with these kids we both realized we aren’t as young as we used to be. We were exhausted. Lol
We did it all. We took them to Disney World Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, however at Animal Kingdom the last three hours there we were caught in severe thunderstorms and did not get to ride our last three rides on our list. That was a little disappointing, and to top it off being exhausted we were soaked to the bone and the kids were completely worn out, we were beyond worn out, we didn’t get home until close to midnight. We had to take the full next day to recover.
We did several beach days, taught the kids how to boogie board, lots of pool days, the two younger kids learned how to swim. They all learned to drive the golf cart and learned road rules and I was so impressed even the six year old got it and did very well.
We took them to Gator land, Saint Augustine twice, Sea World, Skyzone Trampoline Park, we went to the movies, took a dolphin boat tour, and did lots of eating out.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. On week two our oldest daughter flew down and spent a week. We so enjoyed all of the time we had with her as well.
We got to see Space X rocket launches and enjoyed a bonfire by the beach. She and her son and our little bud who belongs to our youngest daughter flew home at week three. The older grandson had to get back home as he was leaving for camp two days after getting home and the younger grandson got homesick and went home. It’s a long time for a ten year old to be away from mom.
The girls stayed the fourth week and really rocked being away from home. They are like the energizer bunnies who just kept going and going.
After four weeks we flew the two girls home and attended a birthday for three granddaughters and a week later attended the celebration of life for my niece.
It has been a very full couple of months, prior to all the visits, flights back and forth to Seattle and a month long road trip we are ready to be home and just enjoy life here.
No sooner do I say that then my husband started a project hanging shiplap in our bedroom. I guess we are people who just can’t sit still.
I’m ready for a beach day but we are in the rainy season with afternoon thunderstorms almost daily. I think maybe a couple of hours at the pool will have to suffice. I know, tough life. Big decisions beach or pool. Lol
In all seriousness, we are enjoying our time in retirement and the sudden loss of our niece just reconfirms for us to enjoy life while you can. Each day is a gift, tomorrow is not promised. In the last four years we have lost two nieces, a nephew and Genes mother. It has not been easy, so if I can reiterate anything, count your blessings and enjoy the gift of each day.
