Busy, But Fun

As we all know life can become busy and hectic at times. I feel like that is where we are right now. The pace has been fast and steady and we are both really ready to slow down and for whatever reason we just don’t have that easy pace right now.

We currently have four of our grandchildren visiting us from Washington. They are excited to be here and we are really enjoying our time with them. Yesterday we spent the day at the beach, they loved that, the water was a wonderful eighty four degrees so they didn’t want to leave, they have been here only a few days and have been really enjoying the community pool and now that they are here it makes me want to put a pool in our back yard all the more so they can swim in the evenings when they come. The community pool closes at dusk and the kids all want to do a night swim but its not allowed.

Today we are heading to Saint Augustine and the alligator farm and zoological park. There is so much to see and do here we can’t do it all, however we are trying to hit a few of the highlights for the kids. We have booked Disneyworld for one day, Seaworld, we are going to watch a rocket launch into space and they want to go to a trampoline park. They have all had lessons in learning to drive the golf cart and that has been a big deal for them. We are having BBQ at a friends one evening and plan on a couple of museum trips, and of course a few pool days. We are both really enjoying them but I can definitely feel my age. lol

We’ve had a shocking death in our family, our niece passed away last week after a short illness and hopes of a liver transplant that didn’t happen, so we had to make an unplanned trip to Washington, thats what family does, you have to be there to offer any support needed. She fell ill in February and they really thought she would get the transplant and recover, however she took a sudden turn for the worse and I guess it wasn’t meant to be. so going through another loss in our family has bern difficult.

After we returned from our month long road trip I got Covid, and I was pretty sick for a week or so but then it lingered on for weeks where I just couldn’t recover. Thank God after weeks of sinus and cough I fully recovered. We then flew back to Washington as my daughter had a brand new baby and then back again a week after getting home when my niece passed. So three trips back and forth to Washington in just a few weeks has been exhausting, but we are grateful we are able to do that.

We still have a lot of fun plans ahead, a visit with my oldest daughter who is coming to stay a few days and then she will fly home with her son who has to be back to Washington to leave again for Oregon to go to camp. And then we will have one more week with the other three kids before we fly them home for a birthday party for three of the grandchildren and then the celebration of life for my niece. These are definitely busy days and we are thoroughly enjoying every moment, but it will be nice to have some down time. So in the meantime, off we go making more memories….
