Well this is it, our first Christmas as Floridians. Away from family and friends and all that is familiar. As we have every Christmas before this one always been with family, we have never been alone at Christmas.
Our plan was to go to SeaWorld this year, they have a lot of Christmas festivities planned but unfortunately our plans have been ruined by a diagnosis last week of achilles tendonitis. I have been placed in a walking boot for the next two, possibly three weeks and so we decided excessive walking around SeaWorld was probably not the best idea. So instead we will go see a movie this afternoon and then heading to the beach later for dinner.
Yesterday we attended church and went for a bike ride and did some chores around the house. It doesn’t really feel like Christmas but we knew going in, this would be different. But having had our celebration last weekend we don’t feel like we are missing out.

Today is supposed to be a beautiful seventy eight degrees here in Daytona Beach, back in Washington they are waking up to snow, a white Christmas, which doesn’t happen too often on the western side of the state. I know that the kids will be excited and beings they don’t have to drive anywhere it will make for the perfect day. I have always loved snow but the older I get and with my RSD the cold is not for me any longer. If I feel the need to see snow I am a Short eight hour drive to the great Smokey mountains. I can go and enjoy it there and then leave after a day or two. Cold weather is really not my thing. I am a much happier person in the sunshine.
Next week we will take down all of our Christmas decorations and continue to do projects here at the house, we are still furniture shopping and decorating the house which has been a whole lot of fun. Our guest room bed finally came so now we are on the hunt to find the furniture we want in that room. I have always wanted a home decorated in a coastal theme so this has been a dream come true for me. Once we get the interior furnished then the next projects will be getting Genes garage work bench and cabinets, finish installing the laundry room cabinets and sink, hanging shiplap and tongue and groove and trim work, doing closet organizers in our master closet and possibly a pool. I think we are a long ways from getting it all the way we want it but its a fun process and we are going to enjoy every minute of it. At least that’s what I’m telling myself.
Well it is early morning here, the sun is coming up and it’s Christmas!! What a glorious day! Happy Birthday Jesus! After all, he is the reason we celebrate this day!!
