On The Move…

We’ve only just begun

Little did we know when we sold our home ten months ago that we would be in interim housing this long. our goal was to sell the house, the housing market was hot, and put everything in storage for three or four months and then make our move. Well nothing ever goes as planned and our short term plan turned into almost a full year.

When we flew to Florida we thought we’d find that perfect house for us to retire but after looking at too many houses to count, we just could not find what we were looking for and that’s when we decided to go with new construction.
And I will say after deciding to build we were both excited over the prospect of getting the house just the way we wanted it. So we decided on a new community in Daytona Beach that was near enough to the beach to satisfy my need to live by the beach, got us on a small lake so we would be able to enjoy looking at the water every day, beautiful amenities such as two pools, one adult and one family, a fitness center, a well stocked community lake with fishing dock, bonfire pit, band shell, recreation center, playground for kids backed up to a huge nature preserve and conveniently located near shopping, medical facilities, interstates, church, the speedway and only eight miles to the beach. sounds perfect right? It may not be for everybody but it’s not everybody we are trying to please, only ourselves and our dreams are our considerations in this next chapter of our lives.

Our little piece of paradise

Now after months of waiting, anticipation, planning and dreaming we are finally here. Reality is starting to set in and we will soon be starting a whole new life. the hardest part is leaving our children and our grandchIldren. they have always been the center of our world. Our hopes and dreams are that they will someday make the decision to move closer to us, but if not I know we will be racking up the air miles as we won’t be able to stay away very long. they have our hearts, but in saying that this is our time, we’ve worked hard for this and we plan on enjoying every new experience. Isn’t that what retirement is all about? Enjoying those golden years? I say yes!!!

So look out Florida because here we come…..
